Here is a brief description of the services NIP provides for our neighbors
Medical, Mental, and Dental Clinics The primary goal of the clinics are to provide quality, low-cost medical and dental services to the community's low-income, uninsured/underinsured persons.
Counseling Center The Counseling Center helps people with general mental health issues. Common issues explored with clients include depression, anxiety, intimacy and relationships, family problems, life goals and career planning, sexual orientation, grief and loss, self-esteem and self-care and support for making life changes. Training opportunities are also provided to both graduate students and professionals working toward licensure in social work and psychology. The Counseling Center's mission is to provide caring, competent and affordable services to adolescent and adult clients. This includes clients who are uninsured or underinsured and require lower cost services.
Rape and Sexual Abuse Center The primary mission of the Rape and Sexual Abuse Center is to provide caring, competent and affordable services to female and male survivors of sexual abuse and assault in the greater Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area. RSAC is committed to educating professional colleagues and the general public about sexual trauma. We firmly believe that information and understanding are critical to preventing and breaking the cycle of sexual violence and trauma.
Youth Programs The Youth Program's primary goals are to prevent school drop-out and to help youth become responsible, productive adults. This is accomplished, in part, by providing academic and social support to at-risk youth, and integrative information and referral services, as needed, to their families.
For the past twenty years, the Neighborhood Involvement Program has been offering tutoring services to inner-city children through its sucessful Youth Program. The volunteers who work in the Youth Program's tutoring components dedicate their time, energy and expertise to Minneapolis area students. The majority of these children come from low-income, single parent homes and approximately 95% are persons of color. In addition to tutoring, the Youth Program also provides summer camp, service learning, and family support services.
Seniors Program The Seniors program dates back to the very beginning of the Neighborhood Involvement Program. The two program services are the Chore Program and Leisure Time Parties.
The primary mission of the seniors program is to promote independence by providing low-cost home maintenance services and to prevent isolation through recreational/social opportunities.
